What is the Total station?

by Team Goseeko

An electronic total station means an E.D.M and a digital theodolite built as one unit.

Firstly it is powered by small rechargeable batteries and built into its memory are a number of self contained functions which include the measurement of slope distance .

Therefore electronic field book is a data recording module and this data recording module records the data and additional information.

Lastly in total, station field survey data consisting of the angles, distance and related information is stored in electric field work.

Advantages:

  1. Instrument itself measures the distance as total station consist features of Edm thus accuracy increases.
  2. Therefore it is a digital instrument which gives the direct reading of personal mistakes that can be eliminated.

Uses of Total station:

  1. Firstly with the help of electronic total stations, measurements of slope distance.
  2. Therefore horizontal and vertical distance can be accurately and precisely found out.
  3. Electronic total station gives the complete basic surveying exercise in order to appreciate how land survey measurement can be used in support in engineering construction.
  4. Therefore one can measure Vertical angle and horizontal angle accurately by electronic station.
  5. It is for levelling classified as the indirect leveling method and so, since one judge it that the method can maintain the considerable accuracy.

Principle features:

High accuracy and long measuring range.

  1. Higher accuracy: (+ or -) 2mm
  2. Long measuring range with mini prism is 0.9 km

Versatile application programs.

  1. On board data collection, sketch out road calculation and many more functions.

2. Integrated alphanumeric key realizes the quicker operation.
