What is Disaster Management?

Disaster management is natural or manmade hazard which results in events causing damage on large scale destruction of human life and therefore change in human life. Disaster control may be described because of the employer and control of sources and responsibilities for dealing with all humanitarian aspects of emergencies, in particular preparedness and response. It is also recovery in order to lessen the impact of disasters.

Goals of Disaster 

  1. Firstly reduce or keep away from losses from hazards 
  2. Assure set off help to victims 
  3. Achieve speedy and powerful recovery 

Types:

There are two types of disaster management

  1. Natural disaster
  2. Man Made disasters

1. Natural disaster

Firstly it includes floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and volcano eruptions that have immediate impact on human health. It has secondary impacts causing further death and suffering from flood, landslides, fires, tsunamis.

2. Man made disaster

It includes industrial accidents such as fire, explosions etc. transport accidents such as air, maritime, road, railway and land etc.

Phases of Disaster Management

Disaster management there are main four phases:

  1. Mitigation
  2. Preparedness
  3. Response
  4. Recovery

1. Mitigation:

Mitigation sports surely get rid of or lessen the chance of catastrophe occurrence, or lessen the impact of unavoidable disasters Mitigation measures include building codes, zoning and land use management.

2.Preparedness: 

Therefore preparedness makes a speciality of know-how how a catastrophe may affect the network and the way education, outreach and schooling can construct potential to reply to and get over a catastrophe Example: preparedness plans, emergency exercise etc.

3. Response:

Firstly the goal of emergency reaction is to offer instantaneously help to human life, enhance fitness and aid the morale of the affected population. It might also additionally contain preliminary rep[air to broken infrastructure.

4. Recovery:

Therefore recovery is the fourth phase of disaster and is the restoration of all aspects of the disaster’s impact on a community. It is also a return of the local economy to some sense of normalcy. By this time the impacted vicinity has carried out a diploma of physical, environmental, monetary and social stability. Examples: Temporary housing, offers and hospital treatment etc.
