Haldiram’s is one of India’s most iconic food brands. Started in 1937 in Bikaner, Rajasthan, as a small sweets and namkeen shop, it has grown into a household name across the country. Today, Haldiram’s is a leader in India’s snack market, selling namkeen, sweets, ready-to-eat foods and packaged snacks in both cities and small towns.

It boasts a substantial market presence, with a combined revenue nearing 9000 crore and products available in over seven million global outlets.

Its products are exported to many countries, especially where Indian communities live, such as the US, UK, Middle East and Southeast Asia. As global consumers show increasing interest in ethnic and traditional foods, Haldiram’s has emerged as a strong Indian brand with international potential.

This is why large foreign investors are interested. Haldiram’s has a trusted brand name, wide distribution and steady profits, making it attractive for long-term investment. Global investors also see the possibility of an IPO (Initial Public Offering) in the future.

Haldiram’s is also in talks with Inspire Brands to explore the possibility of making Jimmy John’s sandwiches in India.

In recent years, several companies and investment funds reportedly tried to acquire a large stake in Haldiram’s. Last year, major foreign private equity firms like Blackstone, Bain Capital, and Singapore’s Temasek sought up to 76% stake in the Indian food giant.

However, the Marwari promoter family, which owns the company, refused full or controlling acquisitions because they wanted to retain control over the business and its legacy.

In 2025, US-based private equity firm L Catterton made an investment in Haldiram’s under a “strategic partnership.” The exact amount and percentage of equity have not been disclosed, but it is confirmed to be a minority stake. Importantly, Haldiram’s continues to remain firmly in the hands of its Indian promoters.

Haldiram’s story shows how a traditional Indian brand can attract global investors while staying family-owned and rooted in Indian markets.
