Earthquakes<\/strong> are the earth’s natural means of releasing stress. When the earth’s plates move against each other and stress is put on the lithosphere. When this stress is great enough, so the lithosphere breaks or shifts. As the plates move they pot forces on themselves and each other. When the break occurs, because the stress is released as energy which we feel and call an earthquake. When the force is large enough the crust is forced to break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Types:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are of two main types:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Natural<\/li>
  2. Man-made <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    It can have many different sub types:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Tectonic <\/li>
    2. Volcanic <\/li>
    3. Collapse <\/li>
    4. Explosion <\/li>
    5. Reservoir induced <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Tectonic:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The earth’s crust consists of loose broken fragments of lands known as the tectonic plates. These plates can move away from each other, towards each others can collide past each other. Tectonic are the most common type of earthquake. It may be small or extremely high in magnitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Volcanic:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Volcanic usually occur either before or after a volcanic eruption. It is extremely high in magnitude.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Collapse:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Collapse are small earthquakes occurring in resigns of underground caverns and mines. collapse earthquakes are also produced by massive land-sliding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Explosion:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Earthquake explosions are caused due to the nuclear explosions but some explosions have produced waves that have shaken buildings in distant locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

       Strength of earthquake:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      It is measures can be several ways. There are mainly two ways.1) Intensity 2) magnitude. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Intensity earthquake: Intensity is the measure in terms of degree, of damage to the surface and the effect on humans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Magnitude: Magnitude does not depend on population and effect to ground structures, but rather on wave amplitude and distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
