The process of measuring this heat is called  calorimetry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, a<strong>\u00a0calorimeter<\/strong>\u00a0is a device useful for heat measurements necessary for calorimetry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It mainly consists of a metallic vessel of materials that are good conductors of electricity like copper and aluminium etc. Moreover, there is also a facility for stirring the contents of the vessel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A basic calorimeter consists of a metal container of water above a combustion chamber,  in addition a thermometer is useful to measure the change in water temperature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Modern<strong>&nbsp;calorimeters<\/strong>&nbsp;operate in the temperature range of 0.1 to 3500 Kelvin and  measures the amount of heat with an accuracy of 0.01-10%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The basic principle is therefore the heat release by the combustion chamber increases the temperature of the water in a measurable way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However the temperature  change may be  used to calculate the enthalpy change per mole  of substance  A substances A and B are reacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The equation used is therefore :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>q = Cv(Tf &#8211; Ti )<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>where:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>q is the amount of heat in joules<\/li><li>Cv is the calorimeter&#8217;s heat capacity in joules per Kelvin (J\/K)<\/li><li>Tf and Ti are the final and initial temperatures<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the principle of calorimetry indicates  the law of conservation energy, it means the total <strong>heat<\/strong> lost by the hot body  is equal to the total <strong>heat<\/strong> gained by the cold body<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Calorimeter | Reactions | Chemistry | FuseSchool\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SagNcyN1yUQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Types of Calorimeter<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the most common types are adiabatic calorimeters, oxygen bomb calorimeters, and after that the differential scanning calorimeters (DSC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>An adiabatic calorimeter  utilized to measure a \u201crunaway reaction\u201d, therefore any heat generated by the sample under test causes the sample to increase in temperature, fueling the reaction.<\/li><li>Oxygen bomb calorimeters utilized  measure things such as combustion reactions. this information is useful in determining the amount of heat (calories) in food and fuels.<\/li><li>In addition, Differential scanning calorimeters are useful for measuring molecular changes to determine the stability of a molecule in a formula.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested in learning about similar topics?
