{"id":6576,"date":"2021-10-12T13:28:04","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T07:58:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/?p=5989"},"modified":"2021-10-12T13:28:04","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T07:58:04","slug":"what-is-scaffolding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/what-is-scaffolding\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Scaffolding?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Scaffolding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When the height of construction is more than 1.5 m, workmen need some platform on which he can stand safely, keep necessary materials of construction and carry on the construction, etc. These temporary structure or platform constructed very close to the wall, is in the form of timber or steel framework, commonly called scaffolding.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The height of scaffolding goes on increasing as the height of construction increases.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Purpose:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Firstly, Provides a platform to stand safely and carry on the constructions.<\/li><li>Secondly, Provides platform to keep necessary materials of construction, tools such as bricks, mortar, trowel, plumb, etc.<\/li><li>Lastly, Scaffolding is also needed for the repairs or even demolition of a building.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Component Parts of Scaffolding:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It consists of the following components:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Standards: These are vertical members of scaffolding, supported on the ground or drum or embedded into the ground.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li>Ledgers:These are horizontal members, running parallel to the wall and perpendicular to the standards.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\"><li>Braces: These are diagonal members which one fixes on standards.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\"><li>Putlogs: These are the members which one palces on ledgers at right angles to the walls, with one end supported on ledgers and other end on the wall.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"5\"><li>Boarding or planks: These are the horizontal platform for supporting men, materials and appliances, Putlogs supports it.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"6\"><li>Guard boards: To guard against materials, one provides the board at the working level called guard boards.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"7\"><li>Toe board: These are boards which one places parallel to the ledgers and one uses it for protection at the level of working platform.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of Scaffolding :<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Scaffoldings can be of the following types:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Single or bricklayer&#8217;s scaffolding\u00a0<\/li><li>Double or mason one<\/li><li>Ladder or patented one<\/li><li>Cantilever or needle one<\/li><li>Suspended one<\/li><li>Trestle one<\/li><li>Steel one<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interested in learning about similar topics?
