{"id":6570,"date":"2021-10-12T13:28:02","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T07:58:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/?p=5983"},"modified":"2021-10-12T13:28:02","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T07:58:02","slug":"what-is-trap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/what-is-trap\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Trap?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A trap is bent or depressed sanitary fitting which always remains full of water.\u00a0<\/li><li>Water which remains in it is water seal, which is measured as the vertical distance between crown and dip of a traps.<\/li><li>The depth of water seal in practice varies from 25 mm to 75 mm.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Function:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The main function of a it in a drainage system is to prevent the passage of foul air or gases through it.<\/li><li>Also it allows the sewage to flow through it.\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types:\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The traps are classified in the following two ways<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>According to shape<\/li><li>According to use.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.According to shape:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Traps according to shapes are as follows:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>P-trap<\/li><li>Q-trap<\/li><li>S-trap<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>1. P-trap :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>One which has shape of letter P is known as P-traps.<\/li><li>The legs of it  are at right angles to each others.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>2.Q-trap:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>One  which has shape of letter Q is known as Q-traps.<\/li><li>The legs of traps meet at an angle other than right angle.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>3.S-trap:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>One which has shape of letter S is known as S-traps.<\/li><li>The legs of it are parallel.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.According to Use:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Traps according to use are as follows:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Floor trap<\/li><li>Gully trap<\/li><li>Intercepting trap<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>1.Floor traps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Floor one is also known as nahni traps.<\/li><li>One provides a cast-iron cover with grating at top, so as to prevent entry of solid matter.<\/li><li>However One can remove cover for cleaning of the traps.<\/li><li>Location: Nahni traps are located in bathroom.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>2.Gully traps :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>One usually makes it of stoneware and provide a cast-iron grating at its top.<\/li><li>One provides water seal of a height of 60 to 70 mm.<\/li><li>One keeps it at floor or pavement or ground level.<\/li><li>It leads the sewage either to sewer or to inspection chamber or to manhole.<\/li><li>A CJ cover is provided at top so that cleaning can be done by lifting the cover.<\/li><li>Location:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The gully one forms the starting point of horizontal flow of sewage.<\/li><li>One locates it near the external face of wall and keeps it slightly higher than ground level.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>3.Intercepting trap:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The main idea of providing the intercepting one is to prevent the entry of sewer gases from public sewer line into the house drains.<\/li><li>This one has water seal of 100 mm.<\/li><li>It contains an inspection arm for the purpose of cleaning or inspection.<\/li><li>One keeps the inspection arm closed by a plug or lid.<\/li><li>A fresh air inlet is also provided in the manhole containing the intercepting traps.<\/li><li>Location: Intercepting one is provided in the last manhole at the junction of house drain and public sewer line..<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Good <strong>Qualities:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Following are the good qualities :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Firstly, It should be of simple construction.<\/li><li>It should possess adequate water seal.<\/li><li>Lastly, One should clean it easily.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interested in learning about similar topics?
