It gives the idea about&nbsp; how an electromotive force comes into action when a magnetic field interacts with an electric circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let us understand Faraday\u2019s law by Faraday&#8217;s experiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Faraday\u2019s Experiment<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Let us take a magnet and a coil connected with a galvanometer as shown in figure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially magnet is at rest and the galvanometer is not showing any deflection. No deflection simply means the pointer is at zero. As the magnet moves towards the coil the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Galvanometer\">galvanometer<\/a> starts showing deflection in one direction.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"324\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/FARADAY-LAW.png?resize=324%2C240&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Figure : Faraday\u2019s law of electromagnetic induction\" class=\"wp-image-5439\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure : Faraday\u2019s law of electromagnetic induction<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Figure : Faraday\u2019s law of electromagnetic induction<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the magnet is kept stationary (near to the coil) at that position, the galvanometer again comes back to zero i.e. showing no deflection.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now this time we will move the magnet away from the coil. When we take the magnet away from the coil,&nbsp; the galvanometer starts showing deflection again but now in another direction (Opposite to the previous one).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further on, keeping the magnet stationary again (away from the coil) will bring the pointer of the galvanometer at zero. That simply means no deflection again.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, similar observation was found if we keep the magnet at rest and move the coil towards and away from the magnet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;It is thus found that the faster the change in the magnetic field, the greater will be the induced EMF&nbsp; in the coil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let us make the observation more simple and put it in tabular form to make you understand easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><tbody><tr><td>Magnet\u2019s Position<\/td><td>Galvanometer deflection<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Stationary Magnet<\/td><td>No deflection<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Magnet moving towards the coil<\/td><td>Showing deflection in one direction<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Magnet at rest near the coil<\/td><td>No deflection<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Magnet moving away from the coil<\/td><td>Showing deflection in another direction<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Magnet at rest away from the coil<\/td><td>No deflection<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It is clear from the experiment that <\/strong>whenever there is relative motion between a conductor (coil) and a magnetic field (Magnet), flux linked with coil changes and produces voltage across a coil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus on the basis of the above experiments Michael Faraday formulated two laws. These laws are known as Faraday\u2019s laws of electromagnetic induction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Faraday\u2019s laws of electromagnetic induction<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Whenever magnetic flux linked with a circuit (coil) changes, induced e.m.f. is produced.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Induced e.m.f. lasts as long as the change in magnetic flux continues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Magnitude of induced e.m.f. is\u00a0 directly proportional to the rate of change of magnetic flux linked with the circuit.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"96\" height=\"38\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/KeN_9-uZIVijSdgnANlfJNh-KURgPTrAsPflud2w9p_4WAOk6VNune2cyMrDFwf6CpCGvWhjOfDdX4IsarkgFurxGVPVQIUlkWRGJUzRl2xsr8WMduDggRQXMbz9bpZZQ2GVeUgr=s0\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interested in learning about similar topics?
