In other words refined form of the concept of consumer surplus was given by Alfred Marshall. Similarly this concept is based on the Law of Diminishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, it is the\u00a0difference between the price that consumers pay and the price that they are willing to pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"What Is Consumer Surplus?\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oL20S7c0ZJE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assumption<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Firstly, the utility can be measured<\/li><li>Secondly, the marginal utilities of money of the consumer remain constant<\/li><li>There are no substitutes for the<\/li><li>The taste, income and character of the consumer do not change.<\/li><li>Utility of one commodity does not depend upon the other commodities<\/li><li>Demand for a commodity depends on its price alone; it excludes other determinants of demand<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Explanation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, a consumer wants to buy a apple. OP is the price and OM is the quantity purchased. after that for OM units, the consumer is willing to pay OAEM. The actual amount he pays is OPEM. Therefore, Consumer\u2019s surplus is OAEM \u2013 OPEM = PAE (the shaded area). Above all a rise in the market price reduces consumer surplus In purchased.
