It senses input signals which can be any quantity or energy of any form and converts it to another form of electrical quantity. They can be classified as listed below<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Classification<\/strong> of Transducer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the main types of transducers which we going to discuss are&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Primary Transducers: <\/strong>They consist of both mechanical and electrical devices out of which mechanical device is the primary device. Hence, the output is generated from the mechanical device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Secondary Transducers: <\/strong>They produce electrical signals as the output. Because they convert mechanical input to electrical output.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Passive Transducers: <\/strong>These transducers take power from external sources. For example capacitive, resistive and inductive transducers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Active Transducers: <\/strong>They do not require any power supply from external sources. Since, they are self generating transducers as they can generate their own voltage or current. For example, Thermocouples, piezo-electric transducers, photovoltaic cells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Analog Transducers: <\/strong>These transducers have output as continuous signal. For example, Strain gauge, LVDT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Digital Transducers: <\/strong>As the name explains they convert input to digital output form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Types based on output to be measured<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Temperature transducers (e.g. a thermocouple)<\/li><li>Pressure transducers (e.g. a diaphragm)<\/li><li>Displacement transducers (e.g. LVDT)<\/li><li>Also Oscillator transducers<\/li><li>Flow transducers<\/li><li>Inductive Transducers<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Types based on the Operating Principle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Photovoltaic (e.g. a solar cell)<\/li><li>Piezoelectric transducers<\/li><li>Chemical<\/li><li>Mutual induction<\/li><li>Electromagnetic<\/li><li>Hall effect<\/li><li>Photoconductors<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interested in learning about similar topics?
