{"id":11369,"date":"2023-04-17T14:50:33","date_gmt":"2023-04-17T09:20:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/?p=11369"},"modified":"2025-10-07T15:39:48","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T10:09:48","slug":"what-is-hci-human-computer-interaction-in-electronics-engineering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/what-is-hci-human-computer-interaction-in-electronics-engineering\/","title":{"rendered":"What is HCI (Human Computer Interaction) in Electronics Engineering?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The term human\u2013computer interaction (HCI) is used widespread since early 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second World War provided impetus for studying the interaction between humans and machines, as each side tried to produce more effective weapons systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This led to wave of interest in area among researchers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As computer use became more widespread, researchers studying interaction between people and computers with psychological, physical and theoretical aspects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Originally known as man\u2013machine interaction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Later it became human\u2013computer interaction in recognition of particular interest in computers and composition of user population.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Study of how people use computers throughout their life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HCI draws on many disciplines, but it is in central concern in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goseeko.com\/universities\/savitribai-phule-pune-university-maharashtra\/engineering\/computer-engineering-1\">computer science<\/a> and systems design.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For all other disciplines it can be specialism but for system design it is an essential part of design process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From this perspective, HCI involves design, implementation and evaluation of interactive systems in the context of user\u2019s task and work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>when we talk about human\u2013computer interaction, we do not necessarily imagine single user with a desktop computer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A user can be an individual user, a group of users working together, or a sequence of users in an organization, each dealing with some part of the task or process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The user is whoever is trying to get the job done using the technology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A computer can be any technology ranging from general desktop to large-scale computer system, process control system or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goseeko.com\/universities\/rashtrasant-tukadoji-maharaj-nagpur-university-maharashtra\/engineering\/artificial-intelligence\/second-year\/sem-4\/microcontroller-and-embedded-systems\">embedded system<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>System may include non-computerized parts, including other people. <a href=\"https:\/\/dpmis.dost.gov.ph\/\">https:\/\/dpmis.dost.gov.ph\/<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An interaction can be any communication between a user and computer, direct or indirect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Discipline involved in HCI<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"975\" height=\"660\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-2.png?resize=975%2C660&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-2.png?w=975&amp;ssl=1 975w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-2.png?resize=300%2C203&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-2.png?resize=768%2C520&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-2.png?resize=585%2C396&amp;ssl=1 585w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.goseeko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-2.png?resize=350%2C237&amp;ssl=1 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Human have limited capacity to process the information so multitasking comes in picture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HCI includes the design stage which involves studying the principles of human behavior.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In this modern era, technological&nbsp;systems are an integral part of our daily lives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>So, it\u2019s important to understand &amp;
